The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment recently organised a ceremony in Ha Noi to honour 50 groups and 20 individuals from across the country for their significant achievements in environmental protection over the 2011 - 2015 period.  Most notably, Da Nang took the lead nationally in this aspect.

This positive result has been mainly attributed to the city’s great efforts in implementing the ‘Building Da Nang into an Environmentally-friendly City’ project for the 2008 - 2020 period.

Under the project, the focus has been on dealing with environmental pollution at some local hot spots, building wastewater treatment plants, and managing vacant land lots at the construction sites of delayed projects.  Also, the ‘Green, Clean and Beautiful Sunday’ campaign and the 'Collecting Garbage at a Fixed Time' programme have been implemented effectively over recent years.
