Illegal parking on roadway

DA NANG Today
Published: October 28, 2015

In recent years, many cars have been parked bumper-to-bumper or double parked along many of Da Nang’s streets, and this has caused congestion and traffic safety concerns for road users.  These streets include Phan Chau Trinh, Yen Bai, Phan Dinh Phung, Ba Dinh, Nguyen Chi Thanh, Hoang Van Thu, Le Hong Phong, Tran Quoc Toan and Ly Tu Trong.

The main reason seems to be that many of the hotels, restaurants and coffee shops along these streets do not have their own underground or outdoor parking areas.

In an attempt to solve this problem, the Hai Chau District People’s Committee has asked for permission from the city authorities to collect parking fines, on a trial basis, from vehicle owners who have parked illegally on some local streets.

The Head of the Hai Chau District Urban Rule Inspection Team, Mr Huynh Van Ran, suggested that construction licences should not be granted for future hotel and restaurant projects without underground or outdoor parking areas.
