At 9.49pm on Sunday, owner and Captain Nguyen Van Duc’s fishing boat QNg 94967 TS from Quang Ngai Province suffered engine failure due to the strong winds and rough seas whilst fishing at latitude 16°10’N and longitude 108°23’E.  The boat, with a crew of 2 onboard, was about to sink at that time.

After receiving an SOS message, the Da Nang Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Da Nang MRCC) sent out the rescue ship SAR 412 to help the 2 crew members in distress.

One hour and 31 minutes later, the rescuers arrived at the scene and brought the fishermen back to Da Nang.  However, their fishing boat had already sunk.
