Viet Nam to offer rail tour as new travel service
Rail tours, serving as an upcoming travel service in Viet Nam, are expected to offer passengers a completely new experience.
A team of representatives from 18 tourism firms in Ho Chi Minh City recently took a five-day train tour to four destinations, including Binh Thuan, Nha Trang, Phu Yen, and Binh Dinh.
The tour, organized by the Saigon Railway Co. and the Ho Chi Minh City Travel Association, is the first step toward a full rail tour service, to be provided in the near future.
Rail tours allow customers to enjoy beautiful surroundings in a unique way compared to other transportation means. |
The difference between rail tours and other types of travel is that passengers do not have to worry about their luggage size. Many team members, especially women, carried two or even three suitcases.
Besides the train’s cleaner and improved toilet areas, the compartment that served the tour was also upgraded from 64 to 44 seats, providing more free space for travelers to walk back and forth easily.
The menu, served by well-trained waiters, offers a wide range of dishes and changes every day to bring passengers a decent, varied meal.
Tran The Dung, deputy director of The He Tre, a local tourism firm, said that railways have up until now mainly served people only as a means of transport, while there are few ‘train tourists’.
Therefore, cooperation between local railways and tourism companies will help transform trains into more than just a transportation service.
