According to the Man Quang Border Station in Son Tra District, Mr Dao Ngoc Duc from Da Nang’s Thanh Khe District, the captain of fishing boat DNa 90370, reported on Monday that Chinese ships had cut off 40 of his nets whilst he was fishing in the fishing grounds of Viet Nam and China in the Gulf of Tonkin.  This area always has a large number of Chinese fishing boats operating there.

At 2.00am on 14 November, Captain Duc and his 6 crew members were fishing at latitude 17°38'N and longitude 107°56'E, about 40 nautical miles from Viet Nam’s Con Co Island, when a fleet of Chinese fishing vessels approached and destroyed the fishing nets.  Damage was estimated at around VND300 million (US$13,300).
