Last Saturday, the family of Ngo Van Quang started to demolish their 100 billion VND villa which has been illegally constructed inside the boundaries of a special-use forest area near the Hai Van Mountain.

A representative from Mr Quang’s family said that the work would be implemented carefully, and it would take some time to complete in order to minimise damage to their property.

The development features a 137m2 metal-roofed main house, 5 wooden buildings with a total area of 436m2, 5 concrete buildings totalling 396m2, and 7 tile-roofed buildings covering 442m2.  There is also a 600m2 fish pond, 6 entrance gates and many stone sculptures.

Previously, the Lien Chieu District authorities had required the family of Mr Quang to demolish this illegally-built villa within 50 days after 8 December.

On Sunday, the Lien Chieu District authorities took disciplinary action against the 2 district and ward-level officials who had illegally granted the construction licence to Mr Quang.
