At noon on 5 December, customs officers at Da Nang International Airport found 2 suspicious 4cm x 4cm plastic packages of a white powder hidden in the luggage of 44-year-old Chu Van Linh from Hai Phong when his luggage was being checked before he boarded flight VJ726 to Hai Phong.

The officers temporarily seized the suspect packages and sent them to the police in Hai Chau District’s Hoa Tho Tay Ward for testing. 

Mr Linh admitted that his 2 packages contained newly-bought methamphetamine.  He said that he worked at a car shipping company based in Hai Phong and he was responsible for driving ordered vehicles from Hai Phong to northern localities to deliver them to customers.  He added that he had frequently used methamphetamine whilst driving through the night to stop him feeling tired.
