On Tuesday, representatives from the Da Nang Markets, Fairs and Exhibitions Management Company, along with some traders from the Con, Han, Dong Da and Hoa Cuong Wholesale markets, donated food items worth over 20 million VND in total to the charity kitchen at Da Nang Cancer Hospital.
Since the start of this year, many local companies have also donated food items to the kitchen including 3,668 kg of pig bones from the Dac Vinh company, 600 kg of salmon from the Dong Phuong company, and over 6,600 loaves of bread from the Dong Tien company. Over this year, the kitchen has provided 289,741 free portions of rice soup (chao) to poor patients.
Since it became a public medical establishment in July, the Cancer Hospital has seen double the number of patients compared with previous months. Between January and August the hospital has cared for an average of 300 - 350 patients each day, but the figure went up to between 600 and 650 in September. Currently the hospital cares for up to 700 patients per day on peak days.
