Medical examinations for AO-affected children
As per the request of the Singaporean billionaire Harold Chan Soo York, some doctors from the Da Nang General Hospital on Tuesday gave medical examinations to local Agent Orange (AO)-affected children who are under the care of the city’s Association of AO Victims.
The hospital’s Deputy Director, Dr Nguyen Ngoc Ba, said that most of the examined children were diagnosed with cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, intellectual disabilities and personality disorders. In particular, 5 of them were selected for further MRI scans at the hospital to check their brain and spinal cord, whilst other ones will have surgical intervention.

Deputy Director Ba said that his hospital’s doctors would continue providing screening tests for the city’s AO children. They will also cooperate with foreign colleagues to give free medical examinations and treatment to them.
On 29 November, the Singaporean billionaire donated the 33 billion VND Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner to the Da Nang General Hospital.
Billionaire Harold Chan expressed his desire that the examinations with the MRI scanner would help to bring benefits to local AO victims.
