New blood filtration methods save lives of patients with multi-organ failure
A State-level science research project into blood filtration methods has been recognised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Health for identifying the best measures for treating multi-organ failure. The research was conducted by a group of Da Nang doctors, led by the Deputy Director of the Da Nang General Hospital, Dr Le Duc Nhan.
Dr Nhan remarked that the application of the new blood filtration methods would help to reduce the treatment time, save costs for patients, and lower the risk of death. He affirmed that there were few complications during the treatment process. Thanks to the advanced methods, the fatality rate of patients with multi-organ failure has been reduced from 90% to below 30%.

In addition, he noted that the new treatment methods could also be used to treat such diseases as dengue fever and hand, foot and mouth disease.
The Da Nang General Hospital is one of the first medical establishments in Viet Nam to apply the new blood filtration technology. Doctors from the hospital have successfully saved many patients with multi-organ failure, some of whom came from neighbouring localities including Hue City and Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces.
