Social housing projects prove effective
During his meeting on Tuesday with Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, the Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment, Mr Chu Pham Ngoc Hien, highly praised Da Nang for its effective implementation of central government-developed key social housing projects in the city over recent years.
The city has issued numerous incentives on housing programmes for local displaced families affected by the city's projects, social policy beneficiaries, government employees who receive salaries from the state budget, and low-income earners. To date, 187 apartment blocks with a total of around 10,400 units have been built, whilst 2 other projects totalling 1,154 units are nearly completed.

Under the city’s programme to refurbish houses of people who gave great service in the national revolution, a total of 18 billion VND was spent on repairing 900 houses in 2014. Of this figure, 14.4 billion VND was granted from the central government’s budget, whilst the remainder came from the city’s budget. By the end of this year, a total of 20.7 billion VND will go to repair another 896 houses.
Since the start of this year, a total of 701 charity houses have been built for local poor families, whilst around 1,700 sanitation facilities have been repaired for needy households. In addition, over 9.3 billion VND from the city’s budget has been spent on refurbishing the Thuan Phuoc, Hoa Minh and Lam Dac San Hoa Cuong residential areas to ensure safety of local residents during the rain and storm season.
