Vocational training programmes for young people prove effective
Since the start of this year, the ‘Skills to Succeed’ project has helped over 1,300 young people from across Da Nang enhance their soft skills in interpersonal communication, teamwork, writing job applications and sending emails to recruiters. The project has been jointly implemented by Save the Children USA and the municipal Youth Federation.
Over the period, a total of 6 training courses and 25 soft skills training programmes have been provided for about 700 students from many local universities and junior colleges including the Da Nang Vocational Training College, the Vocational Tourism College, the College of Technology, and the Viet Nam-Australia Vocational College. In addition, training courses on business have been held for 200 other local young people who wanted to start-up their own businesses in the city.
Another programme to provide free vocational training courses for local young people in difficult circumstances has also been running in the city since early this year. As a result, a total of 287 young poor people have enjoyed benefits from this programme, 242 of whom have been able to find stable jobs at an average monthly salary of 3.3 million VND.
