During the 2010 - 2015 period, the Association of Charities and Children's Rights Protection in Da Nang’s Ngu Hanh Son District was heavily involved in a number of charitable activities to help local poor families.

In particular, the Association raised funds to buy gifts for 18,000 poor families, and to give financial aid to build new houses and repair downgraded ones for 22 needy families.  A total of 129 wheelchairs were given to local disabled people, whilst 254 bicycles were presented to school pupils in difficult circumstances.

Ms Le Thi Phung from the district’s Hoa Hai Ward is a typical recipient of financial aid from the Association.  Phung, who has 2 children affected by Agent Orange, has been given a washing machine.  Meanwhile, Ms Nguyen Thi Hong from Hoa Quy Ward has received 50 million VND to create a means of livelihood and buy essential household appliances.  Thanks to this, she has been able to earn a living and pay her children’s tuition fees.

Over the period, the Association has joined efforts with local generous individuals, businesses and religious organisations to help local poor families and school pupils.

A total of 4 charity collection boxes were placed at the district’s Linh Ung Pagoda and the My An Market to collect money to provide immediate help for people suffering unexpected incidents or in difficult circumstances.

In each of the past 5 years, local disabled children and children of the blind have been given gifts to help them enjoy a warm and happy Lunar New Year and Mid-autumn Festival.

The Association has also co-ordinated with local departments, agencies and organisations to encourage 100 pupils who had dropped out of school through poverty to return to their schools.

In addition, the Association has sent 18 orphaned children to the Mari Charity House which is under the management of the USA’s non-governmental organisation Giving it Back to Kids.
