Expansion of eligibility to buy social housing
Over recent years, Da Nang has issued numerous housing incentives for displaced families affected by the city's projects, social policy beneficiaries, government employees who receive salaries from the state budget, and low-income earners.
To date, 187 apartment blocks containing a total of around 10,400 units have been built, and 8,319 of these units have already been occupied. Currently, 2 more social housing projects with 1,154 units are nearing completion.

The city is implementing pilot sales of 846 State-owned apartments. Of these, 286 are in the 12-storey apartment blocks T1 and T2 in Son Tra District’s Nai Hien Dong Ward, 230 are at the Blue House social housing project, and the remainder are in the Phong Bac residential area.
However, selling these apartments is proving difficult. People in need of housing are changing their trends and either buy resettlement land or rent social housing apartments instead of buying new apartments. The reason seems to be that residential land lots in the city are now cost-competitive against these apartments, and most people prefer to own a residential land lot than an apartment in a social housing project.
In order to solve the problem, the city authorities have expanded the types of social housing buyers. In addition to those meeting the existing eligibility criteria, the purchase of social housing is being extended to now include workers at non-State-owned businesses providing they do not already own a house.
