To mark the 66th anniversary of the traditional Vietnamese Students Day (9 January), Da Nang’s Dong A University recently organised an event which included numerous meaningful community activities.

The University’s Youth Union has given free bus tickets, worth 200,000 VND each, to 200 poor university students in order to help them return to their hometowns to celebrate Tet with their families.  In addition, tickets were provided for 100 others in difficult circumstances who are living in the DMC-579 student halls.

Sixty-nine students and 4 Youth Union chapters were honoured with the January Star awards and the title ‘Student of 5 Merits’ in recognition of their excellent achievements in the Youth Union movement and activities during the 2014 - 2015 academic year.

Also at the event, a representative from Dong A University presented 10 million VND to fisherman Mr Huynh Van Thach whose fishing boat QNg 98459 was rammed by a foreign ship on 1 January whilst fishing about 70 nautical miles from Viet Nam's Con Co Island.  The purpose was to encourage his family to continue their fishing activities in Viet Nam’s traditional fishing grounds.
