In 2015, a total of 112 blood donation campaigns took place across Da Nang, and 43,000 local residents donated blood.  This represents 3.67% of the city’s population, up 0.42% against 2014.

Over 37,500 units of blood were collected during these campaigns, an increase of 5,200 compared with 2014 and surpassing the year’s target by 25%.  The volume donated fully met the demand of the local hospitals for blood to use in emergencies and general treatment.

Currently, the city has over 1,300 people willing to give blood if needed.  By the end of this year, the city is aiming to collect 33,000 units of blood from 3% of the local population who fall within the blood donation age range.  This year’s target has been set lower than last year because the city is seeing a decrease in the number of eligible blood donors as its population ages.
