Retired teacher with a golden heart
The Chairwoman of the Lien Chieu District Association of Charities and Children’s Rights Protection, Mrs Nguyen Thi A, who is a retired teacher, has become actively involved in helping local disadvantaged people over the past 7 years.
During this period, the woman with a golden heart has assisted 40 people who suffered from hunger, poverty and disease, or were involved in unexpected incidents. Included was an abandoned child who suffered from birthmarks, a 10-month-old boy with a heart defect, a 24-year-old man diagnosed with a serious disease who needed surgery to save his life, and a 27-year-old man suffering from hemiplegia due to a traffic accident.

Mrs A is actively involved in appealing for donations to help disavantaged people, and asks local donors to contribute a small amount of money to raise funds for charity purposes.
To date she has used her warm heart and willing hands to give proper burials for 2 abandoned babies who were found dead. One was found on a local beach, and one on a rubbish dump. She said she wanted to share her outpouring of love for these babies, and added that she wanted to treasure and honour them because their parents hadn’t understood the treasure and gifts they had been given.
Currently, the kind-hearted retired teacher is raising funds to pay funeral costs for the poor. She shows her great love for those who cannot afford to pay their burial costs, and to date has raised enough money to help 9 needy families to bury their dead.
