'The Knight of Clean Water' project aiming to protect water resources
The Song Nuoc team from Da Nang won 1st prize in the ‘Action for Water 2015’ contest for their project named ‘The Knight of Clean Water’. The contest was held between 10 February and 5 June 2015 and aimed to raise public awareness of the significant role of water resources.
The three members of the Song Nuoc team are all students in Da Nang: Nguyen Thanh Hau from the University of Architecture; Nguyen Thi Thu Hien from the University of Education; and Le Phuoc Lan from the FPT University.
Their project made a deep impression on the contest’s judging board thanks to its meaningful community activities aimed at protecting water resources. Specifically mentioned was teaching primary pupils about how to protect water resources and organising photo exhibitions to show the important role of water in the environment.
Activity in an extracurricular class |
The team’s members, along with 12 other local volunteers, are currently organising extracurricular classes for pupils at the Hoa Phu and Hoa Tien 2 primary schools in Hoa Vang District. These classes are proving popular with the pupils thanks to the effective teaching methods adopted which combine learning with play activities. The pupils can participate in group discussions, presentations, and eloquence activities about water-relating issues, as well as see photos and watch videos about the issue.
A group of volunteers from Hue City has recently asked the Song Nuoc team to help them organise similar classes at some of the primary schools in Hue.
The team members are now pursuing their dream of expanding their project into other primary schools across the central region and highlands, especially those situated near polluted water resources.
