On Monday, the Da Nang-Viet Nam Clipper Race yacht’s crew members were taken to visit some of the city’s popular tourist attractions, including My Khe Beach, the Marble Mountains Tourist Area, the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture, the Son Tra Peninsula and the Linh Ung Pagoda.  Many of them were immediately impressed with the beauty of the city, and promised that they would return in the near future.

During their visit to the Marble Mountains, the crew members all marvelled at the natural and fanciful beauty of the venue and its caves.  Also, they really enjoyed admiring the valuable antiquities at the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture.

During the day, they also went shopping in the Han Market, and admired the magical Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara statue at the Linh Ung Pagoda on Son Tra Peninsula.

Crewman Peter Murray from the UK said that what he had found most interesting during his stay in the city was taking part in the 5km race along the beautiful My Khe Beach at the 2nd Da Nang Barefoot Run on Sunday.  The beach lover said he would bring his family to Da Nang if he ever has the chance in the near future.

Another crewman, David, had previously visited Da Nang 5 years ago, and during his return to the city he has been deeply impressed by the city's rapid growth and its remarkable changes.  He said he loves Da Nang for its safe living environment, and the traffic which is better than other localities nationwide.  He said he had really enjoyed the performance of the Dragon's head at the eastern end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge.  He remarked that the great welcome and hospitality given by the local residents has warmed his heart and those of his teammates.

His teammate Ms Kirsty Mohun-Smith said that she was really impressed with the valuable antiquities on display at the Cham Museum, especially a gilt-bronze statue of Bodhisattva Tara.  Kirsty added “I have already taken a photo of Bodhisattva Tara and I will show it to my best friend in the UK, who is also named Tara.  I have also taken many photos of other items at the museum and I will upload these images to my blog very soon.”  She said that she could not visit all of the city’s tourist attractions during her limited stay this time, but she would for sure return to the city with her friends or family members in the near future.
