Viet Nam-USA relationship boosted
A discussion entitled ‘The Viet Nam-USA Relationship: Lessons from the Past and a Vision for the Future’ took place in Da Nang on Thursday. The event was co-organised by the city’s Union of Friendship Organisations (DAFO) and the US Veterans for Peace Chapter 160 (VFP Chapter 160).
At the event, many US veterans expressed their strong appreciation of the rapid growth of Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, after the 2 resistance wars. They promised to do their utmost to reinforce bilateral cooperation with Viet Nam, as well as appeal for other US veterans and residents, along with non-government organisations, to work with Viet Nam to address the consequences of war, especially the Agent Orange (AO)-related issues.

Since 2003, VFP has been actively involved in appealing for US citizens to help AO victims in the city, including giving financial assistance.
After the meeting, the US guests visited children who are living at Shelter No 3 of the Da Nang Support Centre for AO Victims and Disadvantaged Children in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Nhon Commune, and some families with AO-affected children.
