Work starts on historical relic site B1 Hong Phuoc
Work started last Saturday on the historical relic site B1 Hong Phuoc in Hoa Khanh Bac Ward in Da Nang’s Lien Chieu District.
Covering an area of 2,700m2 in the Hoa Khanh extended industrial park, the site will cost 4.2 billion VND from the city’s budget. The work is expected to be completed by 2 September this year to mark the 71st anniversary of Viet Nam's National Day.
The new development aims to commemorate the heroic martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation, and also to educate younger generations about the country's history and its traditions. It will also create an impressive architectural landmark for the city, and provide a space for public activities for local residents.
The ground-breaking ceremony |
Hong Phuoc (given the secret code name B1) was one of Da Nang’s most important revolutionary bases during the 2 resistance wars against the French and the Americans. In the resistance war against the US, Hong Phuoc Village was home to 64 families, and together they dug 46 secret shelters for use as hiding places for Vietnamese revolutionary soldiers. The villagers made great efforts to help Vietnamese revolutionary soldiers fight against the enemy and win numerous resounding battles.
