The Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Dang Viet Dung, recently urged local relevant agencies to make every effort to raise public awareness of not using banned or restricted substances in farming and food services.  In particular, they were asked to organise meetings as soon as possible with representatives from local food trading and breeding establishments, slaughterhouses, and food service providers across the city in order provide them the necessary information about the matter.

From now until late May, the focus will be on increasing checks and inspections on a total of 300 of the city’s trading establishments, markets, supermarkets, slaughterhouses, vegetable growing areas, restaurants, and eateries. The intention is to raise awareness of providing safe food and vegetables for local customers and to stop the use of prohibited substances in livestock farming activities, and reduce drug residue in fruits, vegetables, meat, and seafood.

Importance will also be attached to banning local street vendors, especially any operating nearby local schools in order to avoid any food poisoning of pupils.
