The Da Nang Department of Police is launching a campaign to ensure traffic order and safety in the city over the forthcoming 4-day holiday period for the National Reunification Day (30 April) and International Labour Day (1 May).

Measures will be taken to reduce the number of road traffic accidents and ease traffic congestion.  Stricter penalties will be imposed on anyone involved in illegal motorbike racing or fighting with police officers on duty.  Greater efforts will be made to combat drug and economic crimes, along with violations on road, rail and inland waterway transport.

Police patrols will be increased and a closer eye will be kept on key local transportation routes and roads to popular tourist attractions.  Fines will be imposed on vehicles carrying more passengers than legally allowed, not meeting technical safety requirements, or picking up/dropping off passengers at unpermitted locations.

More checks will be made on passenger coaches, unoriginal food carrying vehicles, and vessels exploring for minerals illegally.
