Over 26,700 units of blood collected last year
Last year, over 26,700 units of blood were collected from Da Nang’s Youth Union (YU) members, which met 90% of the demand from local hospitals for blood to use in emergencies and treatment. Since the start of this year, the city’s young people have continued donating, with a total of 6,000 units already collected.
The figures were released at a ceremony on Sunday to respond to the People's Voluntary Blood Donation Day (7 April) and Youth Voluntary Blood Donation Day (3 April). The event was co-organised by the municipal YU, the local Youth Federation, and the Haematology and Blood Transfusion Department of the Da Nang General Hospital.
Also at the event, 500 participants donated 350 units of blood, and 85 individuals were presented with Certificates of Merit in recognition of their outstanding achievements during last year’s voluntary blood donation campaigns.
