On Thursday, the Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Police, Col Le Quoc Dan, presented his Department’s Certificate of Merit to driver Nguyen Huu Vinh from the city’s Tien Sa Taxi Company in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the ‘All People Protect National Security’ campaign.

Late at night on 16 March, 28-year-old Ngo Dai Phuc, who was a temporary resident in Hai Chau District, held a knife to Vinh’s throat and demanded money whilst they were travelling to a desolate location.  Mr Vinh bravely fought off the robber and escaped from the taxi.  Although both his hands were injured, Vinh joined nearby residents to chase after the robber.  The following morning, offender Phuc presented himself at the An Hai Bac Ward Police Station and pleaded guilty to the attack.

On 18 March, the Tien Sa Taxi Company awarded 2 million VND to driver Phuc as a reward for his brave actions.
