21-year-old Le Thi Thu Nguyet, a third-year student from the Faculty of Mathematics of the Da Nang University of Education, has a strong passion for mathematics.

Nguyet won the first prize in a maths contest at the recent Da Nang University competition for its excellent students.

When Nguyet was a primary pupil, she showed her talent for this tough but interesting subject.  She was the only one to solve the hardest maths problems in school-level competitions, which took her teachers and friends by surprise.

She also achieved outstanding academic results when she studied at the Le Quy Don Senior High School for Gifted Students, and she won many top prizes in municipal-level maths competitions.

Most notably, she gained the highest score in the entrance exam for the Da Nang University of Education.  Here, the talented girl continued winning the first prizes in the university-level maths competitions and faculty-level scientific research contests.

Despite her remarkable success, Nguyet is very modest about her achievements as she said she was a lucky girl.

She also revealed her secrets of being good at maths.  She focusses on thoroughly grasping the background knowledge of the subject, regularly spending time solving as many maths problems as possible, and picking up more knowledge from the internet.

She revealed that her father has a good influence on her life because he always gives her useful advice, and in particular he allows her to make many important personal decisions.  She added that her parents always concentrate on teaching morality to Nguyet and her younger sister, and show great concern for their children’s studies.  Therefore, Nguyet always keeps in mind that she will do her utmost to constantly improve her knowledge and gain more success in her studies.

In addition to maths, the talented girl is very interested in such hobbies as surfing Facebook, listening to music, and watching films.  Interestingly, she participates in an English club in order to achieve a high proficiency in this foreign language.

She also says that she dreams of travelling around the world in order to experience new places and meet with international friends to broaden her mind.
