A total of 20 leaders from Da Nang’s departments and agencies, along with those from district-level people’s committees, attended a training course on social etiquette and international communication skills in the city on Wednesday.

Co-organised by the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs and Ho Chi Minh City’s MannersUp – Kingier Consultancy Company, the 1-day course provided trainees with essential diplomatic skills in preparation for the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit which will take place in Da Nang in October 2017.

During the course, the participants gained an insight into the specified cultural identities of countries worldwide.  This will help them adopt suitable communication rules and manners with international guests in order to ensure the highest efficiency of diplomatic activities.

The focus was also on introducing the trainees to international etiquette theory, including how to shake hands, wave hands, exchange business cards, and present gifts to others.

In addition, suitable dress codes for the official and formal events were outlined, as well as the art of attending receptions.
