City leader presents gifts to the elderly
On Thursday, to mark the 75th anniversary of Viet Nam Elderly Day (6 June), Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee Vice Chairman Dang Thi Kim Lien, together with some leaders from the municipal Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, visited and presented gifts to elderly people living at the city’s care centre for those who have made great efforts to promote the city's progress.
The centre is now providing care for 59 elderly social policy beneficiaries, the oldest of whom is 106-year-old Nguyen Thi Suu.
Vice Chairman Lien praised them all for their great efforts towards the city’s growth and wished them good health, as well as encouraged them to continue being good examples for their descendants.
On the same day, Ms Lien also visited single elderly people living at a charity house in Ngu Hanh Son District and gave them gifts.
She then paid visits to give gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Thiet from Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Khuong Commune, Mrs Tran Thi My from Ngu Hanh Son District’s Hoa Quy Ward, and Mr Ngo Van Khai from Cam Le District’s Hoa Tho Tay Ward. All are now 100 years old.
