City leader visits Elderly People's Association
On Monday, Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Nguyen Xuan Anh visited and presented gifts to the city’s Elderly People’s Association for the 75th anniversary of Viet Nam Elderly Day (6 June). He was accompanied by municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung and Chairman of the local Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Manh Hung.
Secretary Anh wished the Association’s members, and all the 82,936 elderly people across the city, good health. He also asked them to continue with their efforts to further the city’s development and make it a more prosperous, safe and civilised city.

In reply, Mr Le Van Kien, Head of the Association, thanked the city’s leaders for their kind care over recent years. He affirmed that his Association would continue upholding the fine traditions of elderly people promoting the city’s progress in the years ahead.
On the same day, Mr Xuan Anh paid a visit to 100-year-old Tran Thi Tai from Son Tra District’s An Hai Dong Ward.
The city leader encouraged Mrs Tai to continue setting a good example for younger generations to follow. He also urged the district authorities and the Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs to thoughtfully care for local elderly people in order to enhance their material and spiritual lives.
Mrs Tran Thi Tai is the mother of martyr Le Thi Hoa, who died in 1972 in Quang Nam Province’s Que Son District. Mrs Tai had made great efforts during the nation’s resistance war against the Americans.
