Da Nang's 120th 'test tube baby' delivered
Da Nang’s 120th test tube baby has been successfully delivered at the Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital. The hospital’s in vitro fertilisation (IVF) programme, the first of its kind in the city and the central region and highlands as a whole, was officially launched in April 2014.
The news was revealed on Monday at an international workshop on gynaecology and children with genital abnormalities. Held at the hospital, the workshop was part of its ongoing bilateral cooperation programme with the University of Texas Medical Branch and the Mayo Clinic Florida, both in the USA.

To date, doctors from the hospital’s Infertility Department have conducted 506 egg aspiration cases, 244 fresh embryo transfers, and 290 frozen embryo transfers. The success rate of these cases is equivalent to those at the large medical establishments in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Since the programme began, many infertile married couples who want children have been able to access modern IVF treatment at the city’s hospital instead of having to travel further afield, saving them travel expenses, time, and treatment costs.
