Reducing the effects of high temperatures in the workplace
On Thursday, the Da Nang Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the Centre for Community Health and Development (COHED) jointly reviewed the implementation of a project on enhancing employees’ capacity to cope with temperature rises in their urban area workplaces.
Funded by the US Rockefeller Foundation, the project was implemented in the three companies Vinaconex 25, Mid-Central Mining Chemical Industry, and Da Nang Steel between October 2013 and June 2016.
The focus was on raising awareness about measuring the core body temperature of their employees each day. In addition, various core body temperature reduction measures were introduced to them, including drinking more water, taking proper rest, and improving their working conditions.
Most notably, they were helped to understand more about the effects of high temperatures on human health, such as itchy rash, urticarial, heatstroke, muscle spasms and cramps.
