Review of housing improvements for social policy families
On Wednesday, Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri chaired a meeting to review the programme of repairing and replacing the homes of local social policy families.
According to a spokesperson for the municipal Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, 1,331 such houses needed repairing or replacing this year, at a cost of 40.515 billion VND, and so far work has been completed on 1,166. Work on the remaining 165 is underway and is expected to be completed before 27 July. The progress of the construction work has been kept on track.
It was also reported that each of the social policy families who have had their houses repaired or rebuilt will be presented with a 24-inch LED television at a forthcoming ceremony to mark the 69th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (27 July). The money will come from public donations.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Secretary Tri directed local relevant agencies and district-level authorities to actively support and carefully check the repairs and replacements. He asked them to urge construction units to ensure the highest quality of work and on-schedule progress. He also asked them to make plans for repairing or replacing between 1,100 and 1,200 houses for social policy families during 2017.
