On Wednesday evening, the Da Nang Coastal Information Station received an SOS message from fishing boat QB 90006 TS from Quang Binh Province.  The boat was in danger of sinking due to a leak in its engine room whilst fishing about 136 nautical miles northeast off the Da Nang coast. 

The station immediately informed local search and rescue teams and urged them to ask fishing vessels and other ships operating nearby to help the boat in distress.

At 11.20pm the same day, rescue ship SAR 412 from the Da Nang Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Da Nang MRCC) was sent out to help the boat and its 9-man crew.  It reached the boat the following morning and began helping the crew with their problem.
