Chinese tourists' rude behaviour towards local banana vendor
Da Nang’s Hai Chau District police officers are investigating a report of Chinese tourists showing inappropriate behaviour towards a local banana vendor on Phan Chau Trinh on Monday. They are being assisted by local musician Nguyen Duy Khoai who witnessed the incident.
Expressing his strong discontent with the Chinese nationals’ behaviour, Mr Khoai filmed the incident on his mobile phone and later uploaded the footage onto his Facebook page.

The footage appears to show a Chinese group member eating a banana without the permission of the female vendor whilst he was negotiating the price of a hand of bananas with her. The man then threw the banana skin into her basket.
The vendor asked the Chinese tourists to pay 40,000 VND for a hand of bananas, but they insisted on using their yuan currency to pay. She did not agree.
Having witnessed the incident, Mr Khoai explained to the group that foreign currencies are not permitted to be used to pay for services in Viet Nam. Eventually, a member of the group gave the vendor a 50,000 VND banknote and received 10,000 VND in change.
To make the problem worse, as the vendor was about to depart, one of the Chinese tourists pulled down her conical hat and stole another banana from the vendor’s baskets.
