On Tuesday, the Furama Resort Danang and the Kianh Foundation, a small UK charitable organisation which helps disabled and disadvantaged children at the Hoi An Orphanage, jointly organised a free-of-charge swimming course for the Kianh Foundation’s students.

Entitled ‘Kianh Foundation Goes to the Beach’, the 1-day event aimed to help the children learn how to swim.

The Furama provided free transport for the children, as well as offering its facilities and professional lifeguard staff to assist them during the course.  In addition, some children of Furama staff, who are junior lifeguards certificated by the Furama’s ‘Nippers’ programme, also became actively involved in helping the children.

During the course, any children with Down syndrome and autism spectrum disorder were provided with ‘one-on-one’ lifeguard staff to help them more safely learn swimming and surfboard paddling in the sea.

The resort’s General Manager Matthias Wiesmann said, “The course was initiated by Australian volunteer David Field who is actively taking part in the Furama’s junior life saving and lifeguard training.  It is part of a wide range of activities that our resort has been organising for children during this summer”.
