Punishments imposed on foreigners violating tourism laws

On Wednesday, the Da Nang’s People Committee Chairman, Mr Huynh Duc Tho, signed a decision to impose administrative fines totaling 122.5 million VND on 6 Chinese nationals who have been conducting illegal tourism activities in the city.

In particular, 25-year-old Huang Wei, 44-year-old Yang Chuan, 37-year-old Xu Zhengua, and 26-year-old Yang Chuan were fined 20 million VND each for violating the ‘Foreigners entry, practice or doing other activities in Viet Nam without the permission of the competent Vietnamese authorities’ rule.

37-year-old Li Guang Ping and 24-year-old Wu Mengxing were given fines of 21.250 million VND each for violating the above-mentioned rule and also the ‘Undeclared foreigners sojourn prescribed or used temporary residence certificates, and temporary and permanent residence cards in Viet Nam overdue 15 days or more without the permission of the competent Vietnamese authorities’ rule at the same time.

According to a spokesperson for the municipal Department of Tourism, since May the city’s relevant agencies have increased their checks over local travel agencies and tightened their management of the tourism activities of such businesses.

During the period, 5 South Korean people have been fined a total of 90 million VND by local authorities for working without permission.  In addition, 4 Vietnamese tour guides, including one sitting guide, were given fines totalling 20 million VND for violating the Vietnamese tour guide rules.

The Landscape Trading and Tourism company on Tran Phu in Hai Chau District was found to be violating Vietnamese tourism laws between 17 June and 4 July.  As a result, the company was fined 20 million VND, and the licence for its international travel service was suspended for 24 months. 

Also, Hou Geshun, 32, who had been reported for disturbing public order and burning a 200,000 VND banknote after he insisted on using yuan currency for services at the TV Club on Nguyen Chi Thanh on June 14, was deported from Viet Nam on 16 June.
