Traffic fines now payable at post offices
Residents of Da Nang, or from elsewhere in the country, who have received a fine for a traffic violation in the city can now pay the fine at their local post office. Their driving licences and other related documents which will have been kept by the traffic police will be sent to their home address later.
The Director of the Da Nang Post Office, Mrs Nguyen Thi Khanh Nga, remarked that the new service aims to help violators save time and travel expenses.

It only takes 1 or 2 days for the city’s post offices to deliver the detained driving licences and related documents to addresses inside the city, and between 2 and 5 days to the recipients elsewhere in the country, including remote and mountainous areas.
However, the new service is not applicable to violators who have had their vehicles temporarily detained by police officers.
Under the country’s previous traffic regulations, violators were required to pay their fines at a bank or an office of the Viet Nam State Treasury in their localities, and then head to a police station to get their driver’s licence and other documents back.
According to the municipal Police Department, between January and June, fines totalling nearly 15 billion VND were imposed on over 26,000 traffic violators.
