The concert will feature songs by Vietnamese-American singer Phi Nhung and the winner of Voice Kids 2015 Trinh Nguyen Hong Minh, along with comedy performances by many famous artistes, including Truong Giang and the Hoang Son group.

A number of other charitable events will also be held across the city to mark the 55th anniversary of the first use of AO/dioxin in Viet Nam, and also the national day for AO victims (10 August).  Organised by the Da Nang Association of AO Victims (DAVA) and other local relevant agencies, the aim is to appeal for public donations to help local AO victims.

In particular, an outdoor activity entitled ‘Walking for Vietnamese AO/dioxin Victims’ will take place on the morning of Friday 5 August.  In addition, local generous donors will pay visits to Shelter No 3 of the city’s Care Centre for AO Victims and Disadvantaged Children in Hoa Vang District and present gifts to them.

Speaking at the press conference, the Acting Editor-in-Chief of the Da Nang Newspaper, Mr Truong Cong Dinh, remarked that the newspaper’s editors and staff are always willing to join with DAVA to implement charitable activities to relieve the pain of local AO victims.  He took the opportunity to appeal for more donations from generous donors to help AO victims across the city.

Da Nang now has more than 5,000 AO victims, around 1,250 of whom are children.  Over recent years, DAVA has made great efforts to attract donations, but it is now facing a shortage of funds.  Therefore, the Association is appealing for more donations from domestic and foreign organisations and individuals to share the pain with the victims and improve their living conditions.

Donations can be sent to the DAVA headquarters at 522 Ong Ich Khiem (Tel: 0511 3866932) or directly into its bank accounts which are 56110000003442 at the Da Nang Branch of the Bank for Investment and Development of Viet Nam (BIDV), and 2000201071728 at the local branch of the Viet Nam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank).
