Birth certificates and related papers to be delivered to babies' homes
Following approval by the Da Nang People’s Committee on Monday, birth certificates, health insurance cards and residence papers for newborn babies will be delivered directly to their homes on a trial basis from next month. A generous donor, who prefers to remain anonymous, has donated 3 billion VND for the trial implementation of this new service.
The service will be applied for local newborn babies whose births are registered by their relatives within 60 days, in accordance with Viet Nam’s laws on civil status.
Under the country’s previous regulations, the relatives of newborn babies were required to receive the birth certificates from the headquarters of the district or ward-level People’s Committees.
During September, representatives from the city authorities will visit and give the papers to 5 selected babies who are from poor, social policy, ethnic minority, and single-mother families, as well as if either their mothers or fathers are foreigners.
Starting from 1 October, the service will be expanded to all local newborn babies across the city.
In addition to directly handing over the documents mentioned above, the city representatives will also present flowers to the parents to congratulate them on welcoming their new family member.
At a recent meeting with voters from Thanh Khe District’s Vinh Trung Ward, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho remarked that the new service aims to help local residents save time and travel expenses, as well as demonstrate a friendly local government which operates for the benefit of citizens.
