The participants were introduced to a draft of the city’s standards for evaluating and classifying locally-based food trading establishments, a project on enhancing local management of food hygiene and safety towards 2020, and the State management regulations about food hygiene and safety.
In addition, management regulations about street food, and about the safety of agricultural, forestry and seafood products, were also presented.
In attempting to ensure the effective management of food safety at local markets, the participants stressed the need for local relevant agencies to increase their checks and monitoring of vegetables, fruits, and seafood products which are sourced from other localities nationwide.
Importance will be attached to publicising the city’s regulations about food hygiene and safety to local food traders, and providing them with training courses on such matters.
Vice Chairman Dung spoke highly of the great efforts made by local relevant agencies in compiling the draft issuing the city’s standards.
The city leader urged the municipal Department of Industry and Trade to perfect the draft and to issue a final version as soon as possible.
In addition, local relevant agencies were asked to recheck and tighten the monitoring of food distribution procedures at local markets in order to detect and deal with any food hygiene violations. He stressed the need for them to develop detailed plans for the management of food safety in order to ensure success, adding that increased human resources and expense might be necessary.
