On Monday, the Da Nang branch of the Heineken Vietnam Brewery announced that, for each of the next 3 years, they will donate 500 million VND to the municipal Youth Union and 1 billion VND to the city’s Association for Supporting Poor and Disadvantaged Women and Children.

The money will go towards funding the city’s study encouragement programmes aimed at helping poor studious pupils to continue pursuing their academic dreams.

To mark the occasion, representatives from the company gave scholarships, worth 1 million VND each, to 100 poor and orphaned pupils from across the city.

Also on the same day, the Fatherland Front Committee and the Study Encouragement Association of Hai Chau District’s Thach Thang Ward presented scholarships to local school pupils and university students.

In detail, 20 pupils who had outstanding academic results in the 2015 - 2016 academic year received 500,000 VND each.  In addition, a total of 90 orphaned pupils and students, along with some from very poor families, received between 1 million and 2 million each.  The intention was to help them prepare for the upcoming 2016 - 2017 academic year, which will officially begin on 1 September.

Also, Duy Tan University has granted a monthly allowance of 1 million VND to each of 10 poor orphaned pupils from Thach Thang Ward.
