Youths promote Viet Nam's image with animated map
A group of young Vietnamese are trying their hands at presenting the kindheartedness of local people in a vivid fashion.

‘Nice Viet Nam,’ a visual project led by Dinh Kieu Anh Tuan, director of the Ho Chi Minh City-based animation studio Red Cat Motion, is intended to nurture the love for Vietnam and the Vietnamese among locals and foreigners.
The map is only viewable on the photo-based social network Instagram. Users can view the map via the link instagram.com/nicevietnam.
When opening the page and adjusting a mobile phone’s screen horizontally, users will see a map consisting of several animations which illustrate parts of Ho Chi Minh City.
Each video, usually lasting for some 20 seconds, features a story about a nice behavior of local people that is exclusive to Viet Nam.
One of the animated videos shows a taxi motorbike driver willing to give directions when being asked by passers-by. He later created a guiding board to help those looking for a particular place.
“The most challenging part is to make the frames of each story [video] fit the surrounding animations in a continuum to form the map,” Tuan said.
Currently, the videos only show stories in Ho Chi Minh City, but Tuan and his group’s final goal is to promote a nice image of the whole of Viet Nam.
Currently, they are working on 99 more clips to add to the map.
