Ms Mai remarked that since 2012 ISET has become one of Da Nang’s strategic partners in the implementation of projects for effectively responding to climate change.  The projects were the ‘Hydrology and Urban Development Simulation Model’, the establishment of the Da Nang Climate Change Coordination Office (CCCO), ‘Storm Resistant Housing for a Resilient Da Nang’, ‘Gender Analysis in Building Climate Resilience in Da Nang’ and ‘Pathways to Water Resilience in Da Nang: A Comprehensive Assessment’.

The World Bank and the Asian Development Bank are currently willing to give loans to the city to promote the implementation of the ‘Storm Resistant Housing for a Resilient Da Nang’ project.

In reply, Vice Chairman Minh highly praised ISET for helping his city to deploy practical projects for enhancing climate change mitigation.

The city leader also asked local relevant agencies to conduct a survey about the demand of local residents for building new storm resistant houses or reinforcing their existing weak ones, as well as to estimate the total cost of implementing this project.  The results of the survey will soon be submitted to the municipal PC for consideration and approval.
