In particular, the Association has appealed for local tourism service providers to offer free toilets facilities for visitors to the city.  As of January this year, a total of 80 hotels, guest houses, coffee shops and restaurants across the city have agreed to offer this service.  These businesses have displayed the ‘Comfort as Home’ slogan on their doors.

In addition, the Association has launched the ‘One Photo – Many Hopes’ charity project at the city’s Cancer Hospital.

Over the past 2 years, the Association has raised over 1 billion VND from local businesses to organise 43 exchange sessions at the hospital for the benefit of its patients.  During these sessions, a wide range of activities were organised, including photo exhibitions, exciting games, and fascinating musical programmes.

The project has helped to improve the cultural atmosphere at the hospital and create a warmth and closeness to bring belief to its patients, and provide them with psychological and spiritual treatment.

To date, the project has attracted a great deal of attention from local authorities, business community, social organisations, university students, school pupils, and visitors to the city.  Most notably, the project has been expanded into other hospitals across the city, and into 5 other localities in the central region.

The Association has recently established its chapters in Hai Chau District’s 13 wards, with each chapter now having between 30 and 40 business members.  Establishing them aims to ensure the smooth operation of the Association in all wards, promote close links between local businesses, and ensure the effective implementation of local welfare programmes.

Mr Ho Van Dai, Director of the Viet Ngay Mai Construction and Electronic Technology Services company, is a new member of the Hoa Cuong Nam Ward Chapter.  He remarked “The newly-established chapter will provide the opportunity for local businesses to increase their mutual information exchange and further promote their cooperation.  In addition, this will help them to boost their cooperation with their partners in Da Nang, and in Viet Nam as a whole”.

Mr Vo Duc Lam, the Chairman of the People’s Committee in Hoa Cuong Nam Ward, said “Over recent years, the ward’s businesses have made great efforts to ensure the efficiency of their operations.  This has helped to promote the ward’s economic development and increase the local total tax collections.  The establishment of new chapters in all the wards in Hai Chau District will help the local authorities to promptly detect and handle any difficulties arising from the operation of local businesses”.

The Hai Chau District Businesses Association is targeting to admit between 450 and 500 new members by the end of this year.
