On Sunday morning, over 1,000 of Da Nang’s government officials and employees, armed forces and local residents attended a municipal-level ceremony to launch the ‘Making the World Cleaner 2016’ campaign.   

This year’s campaign has been jointly organised by the municipal Department of Natural Resources and the Environment and the Thanh Khe District People’s Committee.

Addressing the event, the Department’s Deputy Director, Mrs Huynh Thi Lieu Hoa, took the opportunity to appeal for practical and meaningful actions from local individuals and organisations in order to protect the city’s environment.  The focus should be on raising public awareness about environmental protection, and imposing strict penalties for environmental violations.

Importance should be attached to honouring outstanding individuals and organisations for their active involvement in environmental protection.

Also on the same day, the Thanh Khe District People’s Committee organised a garbage recycling festival at the Hoang Dieu Junior High School.  The event aimed to encourage school pupils and local residents to reduce the amount of waste they produce, and increase the use of recycled materials.
