Mid-autumn Festival gifts for disadvantaged children

Yesterday, some of Da Nang’s leaders and those from relevant agencies presented gifts to local disadvantaged children to help them celebrate the Mid-autumn Festival.

Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri visited the Tuong Lai (Future) Special School in Cam Le District and presented gifts to its pupils.

Established in 2011, the school offers training courses to a total of 228 pre-school, primary, and junior high school pupils who suffer from hearing impediments, mental retardation, or autism.  The majority of the school’s pupils are orphans or come from poor families in Da Nang and Quang Nam Province.

Municipal People's Council Vice Chairman Nguyen Nho Trung paid a visit to the Hoa Mai Orphan Care Centre in Ngu Hanh Son District, and presented gifts to children at the venue.  The centre cares for 48 local orphaned and poor children.

People's Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung visited the Shelter No 3 of Da Nang’s Care Centre for Agent Orange Victims and Disadvantaged Children in Hoa Vang District's Hoa Nhon Commune.  He donated 5 million VND from the city’s budget to the centre, and gave gifts to the unfortunate children there.

Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee Chairwoman Dang Thi Kim Lien paid a visit to the Centre for Social Protection.  She presented gifts to orphaned and disadvantaged children, and wished them a warm and happy Mid-autumn Festival.

This centre is now home to 164 people. Amongst them, 75 are elderly, 59 are disabled, 16 are paralysed or mentally disabled, and the remaining 14 are itinerant beggars.

Also yesterday, 80 children of families from the city’s Hoa Van village in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Hiep Nam Ward were treated to the fascinating ‘Full-moon Festive Night’ programme in the city.

The event was jointly organised by the youth organisations of local businesses and Lien Chieu District, and the municipal Children's House. 

At the event, the organisers donated a speaker set, worth 5 million VND, to the village’s cultural house, and gave gifts, valued at 500,000 VND each, to the participating children.  In addition, the city’s Danapha Pharmaceutical Company presented medicines for the villagers.

Also on the same day, a similar festival was held in the city for 200 poor children from Thanh Khe District.  It was organised by the youth organisations of local government agencies and Thanh Khe District, and the municipal Children's House.  The participating children also received gifts from the organisers.

Representatives from authorities in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Khanh Nam Ward presented gifts, valued at 200,000 VND each, to 250 children of workers who are working at the Khanh Son Waste Dump.  The gifts were funded by 3 local companies.
