The facility is owned by Mr Nguyen Ngoc Quy, a member of the locally well-known Nghi An Bean Sprouts Cooperative. Mr Quy said that his establishment supplies between 350 and 400kg of bean sprouts to the local market every day.
The focus was on carefully checking the bean sprout growing processes at the venue, as well as the operation of its wastewater treatment system. The inspectors also randomly took some samples of the bean sprouts to test whether or not they contain prohibited substances.
In addition, samples of thinly sliced banana flowers were collected from the city’s Hoa Cuong wholesale market in Hai Chau District. The samples will be checked to see if they contain sodium metabisulphite, which is used as a disinfectant, antioxidant and preservative agent.
The results of the tests will be released over the next few days.
