English course for local government employees
Around 100 employees from Da Nang’s local government departments and agencies are attending a training course on English skills until 4 November.
The course has been jointly organised by the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs, the New Zealand Embassy in Viet Nam, and the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
The intention is to provide trainees with essential English skills in preparation for the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit which will take place in the city in October 2017.
The participants are divided into two 2-week-long classes, and there are another two 4-week-long classes for those studying during their working hours.
The focus is on helping the trainees perfect their English speaking and listening skills as well as teaching them how to effectively organise APEC-related conferences and events. This will help them to increase their self-confidence in communicating with their APEC foreign guests and ensure the highest efficiency of diplomatic activities.
