More financial aid for flood victims in central region
A group of representatives from the Da Nang authorities, led by municipal People’s Council Vice Chairman Nguyen Nho Trung, recently visited the flood-hit provinces of Quang Binh and Quang Tri.

Vice Chairman Trung presented 1 billion VND raised by Da Nang’s authorities and residents to hardest-hit Quang Binh Province, whilst 500 million VND went to Quang Tri Province.
Flash floods ripped through these areas after torrential rains started on 12 October and continued throughout that weekend.
In Quang Binh Province, it was reported that severe floods had left 21 people dead, 1 still missing and 25 injured. In addition, more than 92,000 houses were submerged in floodwaters with the total damage estimated at over 2,700 billion VND. In Quang Tri Province, the devastating floods inundated over 1,000 homes. The total cost of damage in this locality is estimated to be over 100 billion VND.

During his meetings with representatives from the 2 provincial authorities, Vice Chairman Trung expressed his sympathy to these localities about the huge damage caused by the recent floods. He hoped that the residents would overcome their current difficulties and soon be able to continue with their normal lives.
In reply, the leaders of the 2 provinces thanked the Da Nang authorities and its people for their kind support and pledged that they would do their utmost to try to deal with the aftermath of the devastating floods.
As reported earlier, Ha Tinh and Nghe An provinces had previously received 500 million VND each from Da Nang’s authorities and residents.

In a similar vein, through the DA NANG Newspaper, 50 million VND was raised by the staff members of the city’s 29 March Textiles and Garments Company which has also been donated to the flood-hit central provinces of Quang Tri, Quang Binh, Ha Tinh and Nghe An.
On behalf of the Newspaper’s Editors, Deputy Editor-in-Chief Le Quang A thanked the company’s staff members for their donations. He pledged that the donated money would go directly and quickly to the flood victims.
