As of 2.00pm on 19 October, Quang Ninh Province which was among localities to be hit by Sarika, reported no damage.

Slight rains and winds hit several eastern districts, said the Office of the provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue.

At 10.00pm the same day, the strongest gale in the centre of the pressure moved below 40km per hour.

The centre warned that heavy and moderate rainfalls will continue affecting northeastern provinces.

According to the National Centre for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, super typhoon Haima was about 360km distant from the east of Luzon island, the Philippines, as of 10.00am on October 19, bringing sustained winds of 200-220km per hour.

In the next 48-72 hours, it is forecast to change direction to the north-northwest, moving 20km per hour.

Haima will soon enter the South China Sea, then steer northward into southern China by Friday night (local time), likely as a much weaker typhoon.
